It is with great pleasure that we are now able to officially invite expressions of interest from all people, parties and PULIIMA 2015 LR 145organisations to host intensive training workshops for PULiiMA 2019. The Puliima workshops have become a popular and exciting pre-conference opportunity for delegates to gain practical skills and training from the variety of experts gathering to attend the conference. For many the workshops are also a significant highlight in attending Puliima.

Your primary audience is Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people involved in language programs and activities in all areas of our communities. In particular, we are looking for workshop hosts who can deliver practical hands on sessions for our participants.

NB: These are focused intensive half day workshops held over the Monday and Tuesday preceding the Conference event, There is also an option for Full day workshops held over two days. These workshop spaces are extremely limited. In 2017 there were 4 half-day, 2 one-day and 1 two-day workshops over the two days.

Workshop submissions deadline: Friday 8th February 2019

Submissions are now closed

Please use our contact form for further enquiries

leaf iconWhat sort of workshops are we looking for?

We would like to provide delegates with varied and innovative workshops which help to expand their skill set and practical knowledge in areas such as:

  • language documentation
  • teaching, sharing and learning language
  • language resources creation
  • language and the environment
  • technical skills

Previous workshops have ranged from recording and transcribing language to building digital books. An excellent reference for determining whether your workshop would be suitable would be to look at the previous workshops on our Puliima wrap up pages. While all inquiries will be considered, not all workshops can not be guaranteed at this stage.

Our sponsors are valued contributors to the success of this event and will play an important role throughout the week conference. Their support and acknowledgement of the value of our languages is deeply appreciated, particularly during this International Year of Indigenous Languages
