Emily Wurramara performing at PULiiMA 2019!!
We are so excited. Our 2019 Gala Dinner will kick-off with a performance by Aria-Nominee: Emily Wurramara.
"Emily Wurramara's star has been steadily on the rise, and her debut album Milyakburra has crystallized her as one of the country's most enigmatic storytellers." - Double J
Originally from Groote Eylandt now Brisbane-based, Emily Wurramara's debut album 'Milyakburra' (created with award winning producer, David Bridie) was a 2018 Aria nominee for Best Blues & Roots album. With a stunning voice and astounding talent for song writing, Emily sings original music both in English and Anindilyakwa.
Emily is a two-time QLD Music Award winner. And this year she is supporting the likes of Archie Roach, Dan Sultan and Nahko And The Medicine People.
Emily stepped into the music spotlight in 2016 with 'Black Smoke', capturing the attention of triple J and listeners around the world. She continues to work to inspire and empower members of her community - especially young Indigenous women - to find their voice.
For the fourth time PULiiMA will host the well-loved Australia's Got Language talent contest!
Australia's Got Language is an entertaining parody of a competition inspired by talent programs such as X Factor, Australia's Got Talent, Red Faces and Australian Idol. Delegates get to compete by performing their Deadly Aboriginal Australian talents - in Aboriginal Language, Aboriginal Music, Aboriginal Dancing, Aboriginal Singing and/or Aboriginal Poetry.
Since it's inception at Puliima 2013 it has grown in popularity and talent, and has become an integral part of the Puliima Indigenous Language and Technology Forum, what better way to highlight the deadly language talents of our mob!
